The Town of Bowdoin, Maine recognizes the following programs for our community members. Please note, however, that we are not affiliated with, nor do we endorse or make any guarantee as to the the services provided by these organizations.


Bowdoin Community Cares Association

Bowdoin Community Cares is a non-profit under IRS Section 501 ( c) (3).  Donations are deductible to the extent of the law.

Bowdoin Community Cares offers the below programs:

Friends Helping Community Food Pantry

Friends Helping Community Food Pantry is open to families in Bowdoin & Bowdoinham on an on-call basis.  If you need assistance call 207-449-6326 and leave a message.  A volunteer will call you back and set up an appointment.

Community Giving Tree

Community Giving Tree provides presents, winter clothing & clothing to children of Bowdoin for Christmas.  Must be a resident of Bowdoin to qualify. To apply, call 207-449-6326 by November 1st. Leave a message and a volunteer will call you back. 

Community Christmas

 BCCA sponsors a “Community Christmas” event each year on the first weekend in December as a fundraiser.  The event features a tree raffle, craft fair, children’s craft corner, and much more.  FMI call 207-449-6326.

Lisbon Area Christian Outreach (LACO)

Located at Rear Entrance of MTM Center School Street Lisbon Falls, Maine
(Next to the United Methodist Church)

The Food Pantry & Clothing Bank are open:
Wednesday: 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM
Thursday: 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Saturday: 8:00 AM – 10:00 AM
(The Clothing Bank will be closed the second Wednesday of each month.)

Who is LACO?

LACO is a non-profit organization, founded in 1985 from the efforts of several area churches. It is sponsored by churches of various denominations located within the Lisbon, Durham, and Bowdoin communities.

LACO is administered by an all-volunteer Board of Directors that provides leadership and decision-making for the organization. Members of the Board include clergy, representatives of participating churches, and community members.

Currently, churches actively involved in the outreach of LACO include the West Bowdoin Baptist Church, Lisbon Falls Baptist Church, Shiloh Chapel of Durham, First Congregational Church of Durham, Durham Monthly Meeting of Friends, Holy Trinity Catholic Church of Lisbon,  St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church of Lisbon, Lisbon United Methodist Church, and the Streams of Life Anglican Church of Lisbon.

LACO’s Statement of Purpose

The mission of the Lisbon Area Christian Outreach (LACO) Food Pantry is to assist and provide supplemental food to the residents of Lisbon, Durham, and Bowdoin who have been impacted by difficult financial conditions.

We gather, store, and distribute goods to those who find themselves in time of special need and crisis. Our mission is based on giving compassionate care to everyone equally and without charge.

Our efforts involve support from area churches, businesses, and individuals of the communities within our service area. LACO Pantry seeks to cooperate with those who share our mission. LACO Pantry has a 501c3 status.

Senior Guidance is an organization dedicated to providing helpful senior living resources for the elderly.
